I worked with NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), part of a coalition of NGOs including David Suzuki Foundation and Stand.earth, to design a report and data visualization about the state of forests in Canada, countering narratives in a federal government report on the same, and bringing to light truths around forestry industry practices in Canada and its impacts on biodiversity, climate change, and Indigenous and human rights. “This report challenges the official government account issued by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) each year of how forests in Canada are faring,” said the authors.

I developed the palette and typography for this report, which didn’t fall under the branding of any of its authors. It was intended to communicate urgency and be compelling and objective, but not scrappy or incendiary. Images provided by the client show both what we have lost and what we have to lose.
