I’ve been a longtime fan and customer of Recycling Alternative, so I was thrilled to work with them to launch a new website. They had previously rolled out colourful new truck wraps and wanted their website to match this palette, which I expanded with additional colours to meet accessibility guidelines. I also selected a new pair of fonts. Recycling Alternative wanted to better highlight their mission and bring the site’s content up to speed with new services. The outdated old website also wasn’t mobile-friendly.

A website analysis and survey revealed poor homepage engagement and a high bounce rate. We also used the results to make sure pages or content that were often sought out (by visits or search) are easy to find, and sections with little engagement were removed.

Reusable blocks for elements like the Waste Wizard banner and quote form make it easy for Recycling Alternative’s team to add these to any layout and keep them updated everywhere with one click. I set up other custom blocks using Advanced Custom Fields so they can flexibly build and update customized layouts without breaking anything. SVG (scalable vector graphics) for backgrounds and icons keep the site lightweight and crisp.
