Political ad

Ad graphic

Published in the Burnaby Now, this ad is a satirical Christmas greeting from Prime Minister Trudeau and his Burnaby representatives, MP Terry Beech and Adam Pankratz, at the time considered the likely candidate in the area’s upcoming by-election. The primary audience is mostly opposed to the expansion and public bailout of the Kinder Morgan pipeline project. The ad also reminds local Liberals that the problem is not going to disappear.

The ad’s primary goal was to get the attention of Burnaby Liberal politicians ahead of the by-election and general election in 2019. Dogwood also had a fundraising target associated with the campaign.

I decided to apply a vintage style to graphical elements, typography and photographs, reflecting the 1950s origins of the original Kinder Morgan pipeline and terminal.

Role: illustration, typography, photo editing and layout. Overall concept conceived by Dogwood.
